Identity Theft
May 13, 2024

Hello everyone I have something to share. You know that life is what you make it and there are so many paths in which you can take your life, some good and some not so good. I chose the former and hope you did too. Sadly, one can never be safe enough. I recently had federal identity theft which kind of knocked my socks off. The thief filed my taxes without my 1099? Luckily the IRS picked up on it before they gave my money away. I was told it would take 600 days to get my money back as their investigation takes that long and someone chose the path as a thief! The IRS would not tell me who did it so I told them I wanted that person to do time. Wondering what I did to make myself so venerable especially in the cyber world. Since this happened I have noticed many people attempting cyber crimes. Do they not know what they are doing is a FEDERAL CRIME with consequences? Last year according to the IRS this crime went up 30% last year. I bet it’s higher this year. The FTC gave me a long list of all the things to do and people to notify using their report, which verifies my identity theft. Personally, A social media site that I frequent had my account hacked, I don’t go there very often anymore until they fix their site and make it safer. Be careful everyone. I am now on restriction with this site because they said  I broke their rules! It wasn’t me. It was the hackers. The hackers sent a dangerous link to all of my friends on this site, stating it was from me. People trusted me! Certainly makes me look bad, but I know I didn’t do it and posted so. As the site doesn’t seem to notice that so many people are getting hacked. SAD please be careful guys. Did you know you can buy identity theft insurance now but it’s not cheap! Saw this when I was notifying the three credit bureaus. I had to also notify anyone that I do money with, like my bank, credit card etc. A police report. Refile my taxes and mail them to their fraud office. Apply for an IPin to file my taxes every year! They mail the pin to me every year for safer tax filing but I can’t file electronically, I have to mail it. I have to use double verification for just about any site that requires signing in. Inconvenient but it is for my safety. I hope? This crime is very personal as you don’t know how much they know about you or who they are. Scary and a nightmare to my world.

Please keep yourself and your devices safe when you’re online. Don’t give anyone you social security # or address. A scammers goal is to get your identity and your money. Be careful out there  ❤️
